Arizona Registered Agent Requirements
Arizona's LLC Act gives this role its own name: the statutory agent. It is the same position every other state calls a registered agent, and the governing statute is A.R.S. § 29-3115. Every Arizona LLC must appoint one when it files its Articles of Organization and must keep one continuously for as long as the company exists. Lose the agent and the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) can put the LLC on the path to administrative dissolution.
Who Can Serve Under A.R.S. § 29-3115
The statute allows the appointment of:
- an individual who is an Arizona resident,
- a domestic corporation,
- a domestic limited liability company, or
- a foreign corporation or foreign LLC authorized to transact business in Arizona.
No Acceptance, No Agent
Arizona adds a step most states skip: naming an agent on your paperwork is not enough. The appointment does not take effect until the agent signs a Statutory Agent Acceptance (ACC form M002) and it is delivered to the Commission. The M002 has no separate filing fee, but an LLC filing that arrives without the acceptance is incomplete. Any time you appoint or replace an agent, plan on the M002 as part of the package.

Get StartedThe agent must have a place of business or residence in Arizona, and the ACC's forms require a physical street address in the state for the agent. A PO box cannot stand in for that street address; it may appear only as an optional, separate Arizona mailing address alongside the real one. The street address goes on the ACC's public record, and the agent needs to actually be reachable there during regular business hours, because that is where process servers and Commission notices go.
Serving Personally vs. Hiring a Professional
An individual who lives in Arizona can hold the role, and that includes a member of your own LLC. Whether that is wise is a different question. The agent's street address is public, which for a home-based business means publishing where you live. Someone has to be present during business hours to take hand-delivered legal papers. And because Arizona LLCs file no annual report, the agent address is effectively the ACC's line to your company: since January 2026 the Commission's dormancy-triggered Attestation of Existence prompts route to the statutory agent, and a prompt that lands at a dead address can march an inattentive LLC toward dissolution. Changing Your Registered Agent
